Must-stream: Flume takes over the triple j airwaves for ‘Good Nights Formal’ mix
After the COVID-19 pandemic dashed hopes for large in-person gatherings, including graduation ceremonies, Australian radio station triple j was determined to give back to the class of 2020 with a digital party to celebrate the milestone accomplishment. Hosted November 27 on triple j’s Good Nights program, the airwave affair featured an all-star lineup of native talent including Alison Wonderland, Peking Duk, Internet Money, and last but certainly not least, Flume
Laying down a brand new, 21-minute mix, the prodigal son showcased a more mainstream side of his mixing capacities that electronic fans don’t normally see. In line with the “school formal” theme of the virtual graduation party, Flume’s mix featured upbeat crowd favorites from the likes of Roddy Rich, Lizzo, Tyler The Creator, and more, in addition to some of his own recent hits such as “Rushing Back” and his remix of Eiffel 65’s “Blue.”
Although Flume noticeably did not include any coveted unreleased tunes in the set, the Skin producer nevertheless made for a more-than-capable high school MC, bringing the fun-loving energy to makeshift at-home dance floors. The party was intended for the graduating class of 2020, but dance music fanatics around the world are invited to groove across their respective living rooms to the set, available in full here.
