Richie Hawtin to stream ‘Plastikman Rewind’ film
Richie Hawtin has announced a one-time-only screening of Plastikman Rewind, a retrospective film about Hawtin’s introverted and mysterious alias. The film, to be streamed on Beatport’s Twitch channel, will be available to watch at 12:00 a.m. EST / 9:00 p.m. PST on on December 4.
Hawtin described the lost film, created by David Terranova, stating, “Imagine waking up from an acid trip and trying to put all the pieces back together…10 years later.” Fans of Hawtin know how rare Plastikman activity is, especially in recent years.
The alias, launched in 1993, had been quite silent for the past several years, a trend that ended when Hawtin announced new Plastikman material in 2019. Most recently, Plastikman teamed up with Prada to compose the runway soundtrack for the brand’s new spring/summer 2021 womenswear show.
