Craig David named Member of Most Excellent Order of the British Empire

British garage veteran, Craig David, has been named a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his civil service as part of the Queen’s annual New Year’s Honors List.

The 39year-old UK garage legend was awarded the medal for his services to music, 20 years after he burst into international stardom in 1999 after being featured on the chart-topping single “Re-Rewind,” by Artful Dodger. The venerated producer is credited with 20 UK Top 40 singles, with seven UK Top 40 albums to boot, and holds the record of becoming the fastest-selling British male solo artist selling over 15,000,000 records worldwide with his debut album, 2000’s Born To Do It.

Alongside David, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, actor Sheila Hancock, and soap stars Sally Dynevor and Nina Wadia are among the celebrities who have been honored by the Queen.
