Idris Elba and Inner City reconvene for a soul house collaboration, ‘No More Looking Back’

On “No More Looking Back,” Inner City and Idris Elba reconnect for the second time following 2020’s “We All Move Together” The two groups, made up of Kevin Saunderson, Dantiez Saunderson, vocalist Steffanie Christi’an, and Elba, have followed up their first work with a piano-heavy house cut topped with vocal chops that embellish the track with a soulful flair.

Released on the UK-based house label, Defected Records, “No More Looking Back” shares recognizable elements of classic house music with captivating snare drums and claps that underlie Christi’an’s soaring chops. The single channels an upbeat narrative of looking into the future, with no time wasted focusing on the past, and comes as an easy-listening follow-up to their previous work.

The first union, the politically charged and powerful intro to Inner City’s album—their first in almost 30 years— broke amidst the ongoing protests and marches surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement, which positioned “We All Move Together” as an anthem emblematic of positivity and unity through music.
