HI-LO assembles eclectic cast of ‘Athena’ remixers [Stream]
On the first Monday of the new year, 2021 met HI-LO a la “Athena.” A crisp, crepuscular flex of Oliver Heldens‘ underground capacities, “Athena” pervaded platforms with a dark finesse. A little over two months have lapsed since the single made its commanding first appearance, and in this time it’s gained—not lost—potency. Cue the Athena Remixes EP.
Issued via Octopus Recordings, the five-pronged pack of edits brims with elements of the unexpected. Take, for instance, Heldens’ own radio edit of his alias’ original, or Demon Noise and Tomas Otero’s respective spins, otherwise known as the two victors of HI-LO’s “Athena” remix contest. Noise and Otero’s triumph was announced on March 9 via a Twitch broadcast.
The packages finds completion with a rendition from Alex Stein and Octopus label head Ramon Tapia. Bubbling over with revisions that don’t just warrant but rather demand listeners’ attention, the Athena Remixes EP pronounces HI-LO present and ready to powerfully court 2021.
