Luminous electronics shine on Rome in Silver’s remix of Mindchatter’s ‘Night Goggles’
Rome in Silver hung around the right crowds in 2020; he was enlisted for a remix of CloZee’s “Winter Is Coming,” and the bitbird family’s livestream, A Virtual Night with bitbird featuring San Holo, DROELOE, Taska Black, and more. However, his eclectic EP, Forever Flame, released via Monstercat was likely most responsible for propelling him into the spotlight.
After being named r/electronicmusic’s Breakout Artist of 2020, Rome in Silver has been recruited by Mindchatter, who’s topped the Hype Machine charts since his 2019 breakout and notably closed out 2020 with the release of his debut album, Imaginary Audience. Now, Rome in Silver can be found reworking one of the LP’s standouts, “Night Goggles,” a glorious original filled with peaceful vocal motifs and a melodic bassline. Silver takes it up a notch with a rapid tempo, pounding drums, and harmonizing synth leads. Of the remix opportunity, Silver said,
“The contrast of sounds and ideas in Mindchatter’s music was something I was drawn to, and ‘Night Goggles’ was the song I immediately knew I could put a fun spin on.”
