Ibiza will open to tourists starting in June according to tourism minister

Ibiza‘s tourism minister has announced plans to reopen the country starting in June with the introduction of vaccine passports. The country expects to have operational vaccine passports, which will be recognized as a Digital Green Certificate by that time.

The Digital Green Certificate will use a digital QR code that displays whether tourists are fully vaccinated, recently tested negative, or recently recovered. With the use of vaccine passports, EU residents hoping to visit the country will not need to quarantine.

The announcement follows Spain’s March statement that the country had hoped to reopen sometime in May. Despite the pushing back the dates, the country will remain one of the first tourist destinations to reopen following the global pandemic lockdowns. Those who plan to travel through the country will be required to carry their Digital Green Certificate at all times.

Several clubs in Ibiza, including Amnesia, have already begun to prepare for the upcoming season. Amnesia has been announcing their shows in reverse order, starting with who will be performing at their end-of-season party in October. While many other cities and countries, such as New York and the UK, have been considering vaccine passports, Nighttime Industries Association CEO Michael Kill recently stated that he feels they may not be suited for music venues.
