This Never Happened has had a court-side seat for OCULA‘s rattling bloom since the producer first introduced himself through Lane 8‘s fourth Root to Branch installment. Building the past two years’ EP trilogy and handful of further label pop-ups, OCULA is penning the next chapter in his This Never Happened commentary with a four-piece opus, Closer To The Edge.

It’d be a tall task to pinpoint an ID that’s been more top of mind in the past few months than the opening to Lane 8’s “Spring 2021 Mixtape,” and OCULA has officially revealed himself to be its conclusive inventor. Closer To The Edge spawns not only “Lighthouse” but also “Denali”—which originated from the label exec’s “Winter 2019 Mixtape“—”Nevermore,” and the EP’s title number with RBBTS, whose vocals the UK-born talent had previously reimagined twice before.
