Ten City revamp their 1989 classic ‘That’s The Way Love Is’
Ten City, the Chicago R&B and house duo comprising Byron Stingily and Marshall Jefferson, have revamped their 1989 classic “That’s The Way Love Is,” putting a modern twist on the track. The original was an early house anthem that hit No. 1 on the United States Dance Club Play chart upon its release. Dispersed via Ten City’s 1989 album, Foundation, “That’s The Way Love Is” has broadly been regarded as one of the greatest house anthems of all time.
Introducing more gospel-like vocals and a jazzy bassline on this rendition, Ten City stick to the upbeat feel of the predecessor, but introduce sharper vocals, high-fidelity instrumentals, and a bouncier beat that surges forth.
The duo recently excited fans by announcing their first album in 25 years, Judgement. The upcoming LP will see Ten City reworking many of their iconic tracks, including “That’s The Way Love Is,” which will feature on the comeback project alongside “Devotion,” Judgement‘s debut single.
