YouTuber uses Tesla coils to cover Daft Punk’s ‘Around the World’

Since Daft Punk announced their split in February, fans have been sharing various remixes and covers of their time-honored tracks, and one of the most impressive—and, arguably, ingenuitive—remixes belongs to YouTuber Fabricio H. Franzoli, who used Tesla coils to cover “Around the World.”

Franzoli carefully manages the phase, pulse width, and firing frequency of the energy emitted from the Tesla coils to create his own renditions of various tracks. When he adds Daft Punk’s Homework-hailing original to his queue, the result is a take on the robots’ original that eerily approximates the song’s iconic riff—with a mesmeric lightning show to boot.

Needless to say, Franzoli is far from the only creative taking on Daft Punk material of late. NERO recently remixed Daft Punk, breaking nearly two years of silence to share an edit of “Emotion” on Audius. Zane Lowe also paid his respects to Daft Punk following their official split with an Apple Music tribute mix. Stream the Tesla coil-assisted cover below.
