Friends of the late SOPHIE launch art auction to raise money for trans rights

In the five months since the trailblazing producer’s tragic death, friends and collaborators of SOPHIE have come together to organize God Is Trans, an online auction of SOPHIE’s clothing, art pieces, and memorabilia to “honor her radical generosity, artistic vision, and commitment to supporting the trans community.”

All proceeds will go to the Tides Foundation, the financial sponsor of Trans Justice Funding Project, a community-led endeavor hinged upon leadership roles in the trans community and the experiences trans people face regarding racism, transmisogyny, economic injustice, and other intersecting oppressions. 100% of the profits go toward grassroots trans justice groups, with no restrictions and no strings attached. In the last eight years TJFP has distributed more than $4.5 million toward equality and justice.

Items up for auction include a print by “It’s Okay To Cry” music video director Nick Harwood, an Eckhaus Latta white silk dress, and a number of photos, paintings, sculptures and more. See all editions at the God Is Trans website.
