Lastlings, made up of siblings Amy and Josh Dowdle, have repurposed “False Reactions” on a new remix EP. Initially released on the duo’s sophomore album, First Contact, “False Reactions” is a deeply emotive dance track defined by swelling arpeggiators and Amy’s euphonious topline. After commissioning a pair of remixes for “Out Of Touch” in April, Lastlings—one of Dancing Astronaut‘s Artists to Watch in 2021—have enlisted a new pair of talented producers to rewire “False Reactions.”
LP Giobbi employs a hi-hat-driven progressive house approach on her official edit, whereupon the Oregon-born DJ raises the BPM while reimagining the tune’s percussive elements. On the other hand, Brisbane-based production duo X CLUB. completely upend the track’s chillwave nature, instilling a reverberating new sound design for a drum ‘n’ bass makeover. Ultimately, the stark differences between the two remixes are what make this project a success.
