Lane 8 sets the seasonal wheels in motion on four-hour ‘Summer 2021 Mixtape’ [Stream]

Summer’s threshold might be observed on June 21, but as we’re all aware, Dancing Astronaut‘s 2020 Artist of the Year is responsible for that decision each season. Determining the exact delivery date of each of Lane 8’s seasonal mixtapes is typically a guessing game, so when the This Never Happened boss tweeted that he had formally begun work on his second mixtape installment of the year on May 10, it was only a matter of time before his “Summer 2021 Mixtape” would hit SoundCloud and Apple Music.

Lengthwise, Lane 8’s “Summer 2021 Mixtape” is his most expansive addition to the series in the past year by far, spanning a sum of 61 tracks and slotting in a jaw-dropping 21 anonymous IDs across the mix’s four-hour distance. In between the crushing count of IDs, Lane 8 interweaves more than a few fresh label servings, including Massane’s “Novae,” Sultan + Shepard and Le Youth’s “Skipping Stones,” Matt Fax’s “Obsidian,” as well as cuts from one of Dancing Astronaut’s Artists to Watch in 2021 John Summit, plus Luttrell, Nero’s Joseph Ray, and others, for a mixtape that grandly arrives just as normalcy begins to reintroduce itself.
