Wongo wants you to ‘Get Up’ and make your way to the dance floor
Not dancing? That’s not an option for Wongo, the technician behind a tasty new number that’ll entreat even the most reserved wallflowers to follow in the fashion of the song’s hook and “get up on that dance floor.” The footwork-inviting cut “Get Up” comes courtesy of the Box of Cats signee’s commitment to Not For Radio. The second installment in the evolving EP series opens with the vocal sample- and hi-hat-led “Get Up” and from there, the funk intensifies with “Dusty Jackson” and “Waves.” The slick inclusions that follow dig into a wonky yet spry brand of house that’s idiosyncratic in an ear-catching way that streamers won’t soon forget.
The hearty trio of tracks takes Not For Radio beyond quarantine quietude; the inaugural three-part parcel touched down in July. owie, who figured on the first Not For Radio EP, notably secures a spot on the Not For Radio Pt. 2 guest list, earning a well-deserved encore of sorts.
