Good Morning Mix: Ophelia Records commissions Far Out with end-of-year reflection on label’s historic 2021
Ophelia Records has made a cosmic leap forward throughout 2021 to say the least, and the Seven Lions-headed label home is now looking back on how far its come with another end-of-year celebratory mix. After recruiting Trivecta for mixing responsibilities on last year’s edition, Ophelia aptly decided to bring in a recently minted Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch in 2022, with Far Out stepping into the booth to weave through 18 releases that wholly encapsulated the label’s record in 2021.
In every single instance that Ophelia Records sent out music this year—whether it be through its 34 singles, 11 EPs, or three albums—it categorically came away as a top-of-mind release by the time New Music Friday entered its final hours. To celebrate the arrival of his new genre-bending EP Somewhere In Between, Far Out was tapped as the sole name to handle Ophelia Records’ year-end commemoration, somehow narrowing down the high-quality count of releases from January all the way to December, including Jason Ross, Blanke, and Chandler Leighton’s “One More Day,” Trivecta’s “Twilight of the Gods,” Seven Lions, Andrew Bayer, and Alison May’s “Returning To You,” Xavi’s album cut “Our Languish,” Blanke’s “Boom,” the Ophelia Records mega-collab, and a slice of his own EP that deservedly earned a spot in the mix.
