FISHER returns to the tech-house pond, ‘Palm Beach Banga’ in tow

Cast your fishing poles into the tech-house pond and get ready to rave: Aussie producer FISHER has a new tune. Equipped with a hulking bassline, uninhibited hi-hats, and a vocal chop intoned by house vocalist Palmer Brown—“Can you dance to my beat?”— “Palm Beach Banga” carries just as many tremorous kicks and euphoric feels as FISHER’s 2018 hit single, “Losing It.”

Dance music has seen a resurgence in the popularity of ’90s sounds and culture on new releases within the past year, with many electronic dance producers dipping into the house genre for samples and sounds for new projects. Notorious for his irresistible, club-ready productions, FISHER showcases an exciting integration of elements from various sub-genres within the realms of acid-techno and house in his latest.

With an innocuous infusion of squelching bass and soulful vocal samples from Blaze’s 1997 piano-house classic, “My Beat,” FISHER revisits the sounds created in underground warehouse raves and ’90s clubs and shapes them into a dynamic, modern tech-house cut primed for played out at beach soirees and festivals everywhere this summer.

“Palm Beach Banga,” released on the Grammy-nominated artist’s own Catch and Release Records, is his first single of the year and sets the bar high for forthcoming music. FISHER has kept busy this past year, launching a clothing label—C.A.R.R—and pushing the tech-house sound forward with vibrant releases that continue to delight and invigorate listeners. With a year of touring ahead and set to kick off this month, you can’t miss this exciting dance producer on his South American mini tour. From February 18 – 20, the Aussie will be in Argentina and Uruguay; then, he’s set to play Electric Daisy Carnival Mexico from February 25 – 27.
