Sultan + Shepard celebrate two years on This Never Happened with rework of Lane 8, Channy Leaneagh’s ‘Survive’

Lane 8 and Channy Leneagh’s “Survive” had only just removed itself from the trail of Dancing Astronaut‘s most-anticipated releases of 2022 and it’s already receiving a fresh take. In a newsletter sent out earlier in the week, Lane 8 disclosed that the Reviver remixes were currently in the release pipeline, with Sultan + Shepard being called up for the first at-bat in adding their spin to the This Never Happened head’s newly dispersed fourth album.

Almost two years to the day, Sultan + Shepard broke ground on This Never Happened with their Kochi EP, a release that would blossom into a longstanding tie between the two, resulting in one of our top electronic albums of 2021. And as their label anniversary inched closer, Sultan + Shepard serendipitously got a call from Lane 8 to reimagine the fan-favorite Reviver cut. The duo won’t have to wait too long before letting their “Survive” spin loose during their opening stint amongst Lane 8’s album tour later this month, holding onto the unfeigned sentiment of Channy Leaneagh’s vocals while giving it their own injection of grandiose melodic house.
