The Chainsmokers nab co-production credit on Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Fivio Foreign’s ‘City of Gods’
OG fans of The Chainsmokers will remember their rise to fame in the mid 2010’s, marked by major dance music hits such as the infamous “#SELFIE,” “Roses” featuring ROZES, and “Kanye.” Nearly a decade later, Ye has returned the love on a new cut alongside Alicia Keys and Fivio Foreign—”City of Gods”—which just earned The Chainsmokers a co-production credit.
Featuring powerful vocals from Keys, “City of Gods” references The Chainsmokers’ 2015 song “New York City,” recalling its resonant hook, “New York City, please go easy on me tonight/New York City, please go easy on this heart of mine.” The new collaboration hits streaming services amid The Chainsmokers’ resurgence back into the limelight following their satirical teaser for their upcoming album, its lead single, “High,” and two SoundCloud-exclusive reworks, one Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and the other of WILLOW’s “Meet Me At Our Spot.”
