The Crystal Method and Hyper extend invitation to Iggy Pop on, ‘Post Punk’

Legendary Stooges frontman, Iggy Pop, has joined The Crystal Method and Hyper for their new single, “Post Punk.” The track finds Iggy Pop stating his lack of interest in belonging to any other music genres amid The Crystal Method and Hyper’s winding guitars and industrial production. “I don’t want to be a punk. I don’t want to belong to any of it. I just want to be,” Iggy Pop states in the soundbite borrowed from Jim Jarmusch’s Stooges documentary, Gimme Danger.

The single arrives ahead of The Crystal Method’s upcoming seventh studio endeavor, The Trip Out, due for release on April 15 via Ultra Records. The record will serve as the follow-up to 2018’s acclaimed record, The Trip Home.

Much of The Crystal Method’s upcoming record had been written throughout 2020, with the album’s loosely circling around the concept and ideas of escapism—a much-needed reprise for many throughout the past two years of regular upheaval.
