Alesso turns lifelong fandom into bucket-list release with contribution to ‘The Batman’ soundtrack
As if we really needed any more indication that 2022 was setting up to be one of Alesso’s most memorable runs, he’s padding his already historic resume yet again. After contributing to PUBGM’s in-game soundtrack exactly a year ago as well as joining the soundtrack for the anime series Blade Runner: Black Lotus this past fall, Alesso is now taking things one gigantic leap forward with the declaration that he’s part of the score for the forthcoming blockbuster The Batman, which is scheduled for release on March 4.
Although Alesso himself has yet to formally confirm his involvement in the film’s score—aside from clips shared to his Instagram story on March 1 of him at a screening of the film—”Dark” had been a rumored production dating back to mid-February when a list of songs included in The Batman had surfaced on Twitter. Coming off an incredible, ID-loaded closing set at EDC Mexico, Alesso’s first original of the year—following his VIP “When I’m Gone“—crosses off a bucket-list release for him, not only because he’s involved with one of 2022’s largest theatrical releases, but also because he’s stated before that he’s a lifelong Batman fan, even purchasing a costume display of The Dark Knight for his house. And as for “Dark” itself, it proudly fits the title it wears across its chest, with Alesso sharing what might be the darkest-sounding production he’s ever put forward, taking a light dip into techno waters for a cut that would aptly play alongside any scene in the Robert Pattinson-starred movie.
While the remainder of The Batman soundtrack is still yet to be released following Michael Giacchino’s original score, stream Alesso’s contribution below.
