Astro Arcade: Tomorrowland becomes first major festival to host NFT performer on main stage
Astro Arcade is where the intersection of esports, gaming, technology, and music comes alive. Few things go better together than electronic music and this digital universe, so whether it is a game soundtrack by our favorite artists or a virtual in-game concert series, Astro Arcade is here to keep players and listeners alike informed as these worlds continue to collide.
Tomorrowland will become the first major music festival to feature an NFT on its main stage. And for those familiar with the NFT space, it will come as no surprise that the performer—Ape Rave Club—hails from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection of NFTs.
The performance, set to take place on July 24, will be a first-of-its-kind visual experience that fuses the digital and physical worlds. Ape Rave Club has a lot in store, with plans to release music via traditional streaming platforms in addition to NFT platforms, giving its musical output a decentralized approach. In addition to the NFT’s forthcoming music, Ape Rave Club will allow fans to govern elements like artistic direction, and there will be an opportunity to share ownership of Ape Rave Club in the future.
Those looking to see Ape Rave Club’s performance live can tune in during Tomorrowland’s second weekend of programming (July 22 – 24).
