DEMUR’s ‘No Time to Die’ EP epitomizes dark dance allure

Miami’s DEMUR knows that to stand out in a sonic crowd, one must command a clear sense of presence. The Floridian producer evinces his capacity to do just that on No Time to Die, a five-track parcel with which he opens 2022.

“I like a certain palette of sounds and moods, and I move forward with those musical ‘colors’ to create an interesting canvas that you know was made by me,” DEMUR states.

Those colors and sounds are unified by their crepuscular nature on No Time to Die, which deals in the raw grit that a bassline can afford and generally dark mechanics. There’s a touch of the cinematic that canvasses No Time to Die, which feels as if it could easily soundtrack a film’s trailer, with “Burn to Set Free” emerging as an attractive candidate for such an endeavor. Carrying a highly stylized, climactic type of bass-laden allure, No Time to Die is likely to appeal to fans of longstoryshort, who regularly takes such a high-octane approach. And if the name DEMUR sounds familiar, it’s no coincidence; the producer’s single, “Tell Me Your Secrets” was recently licensed to HBO for a Gossip Girl trailer.
