Far Out, KARRA create melodic match for fourth consecutive time on ‘Afraid To Love’

A meeting between one of Dancing Astronaut’s Artists to Watch in 2022 and one of our Supernovas—a series used to spotlight the scene’s singer-songwriters—could’ve only been a match made in dance music heaven. Dating back to 2017, Far Out and KARRA had already solidified a collaborative trilogy—uniting for “Truest Lies,” “On My Own,” and “Constellation,” which marked the former’s Ophelia Records debut in 2020—and they decided to extend their proven producer-vocalist synergy for a fourth consecutive time, taking to Seeking Blue for “Afraid To Love.”

Far Out had shut last year’s musical door with his most wide-ranging output to date with his Somewhere In Between EP, and he’s now turning the page four months later with his first original of the year. And while the longtime friend’s prior trinity of meetings were angled more towards the future bass end of the electronic spectrum, “Afraid To Love” moves closer back towards the melodic bass character that Far Out has more recently refined through his Ophelia appearances. Originally teased during a Twitch livestream, “Afraid To Love” charmingly speaks to the strengths of each of the single’s contributors—with an otherworldly artwork to boot—as Far Out continually manages to stand out with his melodic brilliance and KARRA supplies an empowering topline once more, reaffirming why they were each highlighted in two separate Dancing Astronaut features. While we now hold on until the end of March to hopefully experience Far Out drop it in person during Miami Music Week, stream his long-awaited reunion with KARRA below.
