First Listen: Shallou teases ‘The Long Way Home’ remix EP with Sultan + Shepard edit of ‘Pacifica’
Shallou closed out 2021 with The Long Way Home and a United States tour of the same name that spanned several sold-out dates in New York City and Los Angeles, among other cities. But that EP was just the start of what the LA-based singer/songwriter/producer has in store for streamers. Shallou recently announced a full remix package for the project and even dropped his own chill edit of Lexi Jayde’s TikTok sensation, “drunk text me.”
The remix EP’s lead single came in the form of euphoric house music from Glaswegian DJ/producer KC Lights (known for singles like “Girl” and “Cold Light”), and now, Shallou has recruited Canadian duo Sultan + Shepard for the follow-up. Renowned in their own right, Sultan + Shepard have cultivated a noteworthy career in the dance space, composing collaborations with Morgan Page and Dillon Francis while scripting their own originals, such as “Walls” featuring Quilla. Their most recent endeavors include projects on Lane 8‘s booming This Never Happened imprint, including their melodic EP, Break Your Fall, released in 2021.
Sultan + Shepard’s talents are clearly displayed on this “Pacifica” remix, which expands on the original’s climactic aura, adding fuel to the fire with a pulsating build up and energy-inducing break. Shallou said of the remix,
“When searching for remixes for this EP, I really wanted to recontextualize these songs for a club atmosphere but still keep the original charm. Sultan + Shepard are one of my favorite dance/chill acts, and they took Pacifica from an indie rock style to an epic, stadium-filling dance track. I’m stoked for it to be a First Listen on Dancing Astronaut!”
The Long Way Home remix EP will formally release on March 25, and from what’s been disseminated to date, it’s clear that listeners have a lot to look forward to come month’s end.
