Hex Cougar, Juelz unleash exhilarating new collaboration, ‘Ur Body’
“Ur Body” isn’t ready for this one. A new wave of UK garage has begun to take shape across the digital airwaves, led by a talented young brood of new producers. Among them are Sable Valley alums Hex Cougar and Juelz, who have released an exhilarating new garage-inflected, bass-heavy record, “Ur Body,” a modernizing take that pushes the sound in an interesting, innovative way. The atmospheric, texture-rich single released via Hex Cougar’s own Alter/Ego imprint is the pair’s first collaborative track out this year, and a unique amalgamation of several genres. On the new collaboration, Hex Cougar muses,
“Julian and I had been talking about writing music together for a while now, but for one reason or the other the ideas we’d sent back and forth just weren’t hitting the way we wanted. That is until a couple months ago, when I sent him a drop and lead idea for ‘Ur Body’—he added his own percussion and fleshed out the idea a bit more, and we immediately knew that this was the one,” Hex Cougar shared with Dancing Astronaut.
The Alter/Ego label, founded in fall of 2020, released its first compilation in November that same year. Since then, Hex Cougar’s rising imprint has seen several critically acclaimed releases and a collaborative EP, Genesis, alongside Pauline Herr, Sejo, and So Sus.
