Le Youth delivers lead single from debut LP—stream ‘Lighthouse’

The rollout of Le Youth‘s debut album has officially commenced; Reminders’ first album single “Lighthouse” has landed via Lane 8‘s dominant This Never Happened imprint. Last month, the Los Angeles-based producer, born Wes James, took to social media to announce his freshman LP’s expected release date, aiming for a target of May 27.

It’s been a decade since Le Youth first broke onto the global dance scene with “C O O L,” showcasing his knack for R&B sampling by pulling vocals from Cassie’s 2006 hit “Me & U.” After 10 years of building his catalog, delivering an array of singles, EPs, and highly-esteemed official remixes, James is now taking his artist project to the next level. Le Youth spoke on Reminders’ thematic background,

“The theme behind this album and the title ‘Reminders’ may seem obvious but for me it’s more nuanced. Reminders are feelings of nostalgia and unexpected memories. Like remembering a past life when I turn down that street we used to live on, or hearing that album we stayed up all night listening to… I’ll explain more about this theme as music from the album starts rolling out.”

It appears now the rollout has kicked off. “Lighthouse,” featuring electronic duo RBBTS, is officially streaming everywhere. “I think of this song as the anchor to the rest of the album,” Le Youth expressed on Twitter, adding, “It was the first song that I finished and I knew it would make the cut.” Get a taste of Le Youth’s forthcoming debut LP by streaming “Lighthouse” below.
