MOSKA, Markem, and La Gurú revisit home on ‘Mi Tierra’

MOSKA, Markem, and La Gurú’s new collaborative single will transport viewers to some of the most beautiful regions in Colombia and Venezuela through both sound and sight. At the core of the heart-rending, resounding “Mi Tierra” is the Colombian-Venezuelan llanera harp. This traditional instrumental sample was gathered by Caracas-born Markem, as it resonated deeply with his heritage. “My idea was to merge these types of ancient sounds with the current sound to collaborate and create something that would unite many cultures,” he explained.

An “anthem of hope and love in difficult times,” said songstress La Gurú on Instagram, “Mi Tierra” is a cinematic work that carries the folklore and cultures of Colombia and Venezuela, making them accessible for a new generation to enjoy. In the accompanying music video, we follow a curious young girl through various Latin American terrains. From the Guajira Desert to Palomino Beach, shrouded behind decades of guerrilla warfare, we arrive in Mavecure, which had remained unseen by outside eyes until the filming of this video. Captioned at the end of the video are the artists’ final thoughts: “Colombia is full of hidden paradises. This video is an invitation to explore them, live them, and care for them. Love your land.”
