‘All I Can Be’ renders RN ISMO a name worth remembering
In the depths of Detroit’s underground scene, RN ISMO is gaining name recognition. Known for his slick, minimalistic approach to house production, buoyed by ear-catching hooks, the ascendant act has attracted early looks from respected minds in the genre, such as Solardo, MK, Lee Foss, and Westend—and his All I Can Be EP illustrates why. RN ISMO brings to Admit One a four-parcel project that mixes the sleek with the spry; whereas its eponymous opening number is a viscous, velvety house jaunt with a topline that lazily unfurls, “Addicted” and “Wonder” are tech-house club-fillers with beats that invites body work.
All I Can Be is capped with RIFFA’s remix of the title track. A soft drum kit texturally collides with piano-house in a fashion suitable to soundtrack the sun’s slow descent from the vantage point of a rooftop bar. The EP is RN ISMO’s first official release of the 2022 year and preludes more resume-expanding activity to come from the burgeoning talent.
