MELVV shares first single from debut EP, ‘Shift In Momentum’
Brooklyn-based electronic producer MELVV returns to the scene with his first independent release of 2022, “When I’m With You.” Boasting a sound that’s a bit different from that of his larger discography, “WIWY” bespeaks a more experimental creative direction that is not only intriguing but also refreshing. The former Atlantic Records signee has now decided to pursue music without label backing, and is newly dabbling in the NFT space. MELVV has since made 25 NFTs available on sound.xyz.
“I’m really excited to be an independent artist for the first time since I was 19. Over the past five years, I’ve put together a catalog that didn’t quite fit in with my major label releases; ‘When I’m With You’ is the first of these. Lately, I’ve built a modular synth, and many of the sounds I’ve been crafting songs around have come together so much more organically. The newer records feel personal and intimate,” MELVV said.
“When I’m With You” also doubles as the first track from his upcoming debut EP, Shift In Momentum, to be released later this year.
