Must-stream: Maliboux makes his Monstercat debut with ‘Remedy’
In the past few years, Maliboux has made more than a compelling case for recognition in the electronic space. Following his breakthrough with 2018’s “I Got It” alongside Nitti Gritti, Maliboux flexed his production chops, taking the title of Zedd’s “Inside Out” remix competition champ in 2020 while evincing his ear for original sound design. In 2021, he dressed Drake and Future’s “Way 2 Sexy” in sonic accessories fit for any main stage. The flip ran laps around the festival circuit accordingly, surfacing in fellow producers’ sets, such as Zedd’s. And though Maliboux’s remixing capacities have a clear history of success, they’re but one of several aces in his pocket. Last year saw Maliboux give wings to two original singles—“Freakshow” and “GoodLove”—and on his first release of 2022, his ingenuity as a solo producer simply can’t be overlooked. Maliboux makes his Monstercat debut with “Remedy,” a one-off with high replay value, smooth vocal chops, peak-time presence—and the power to restore his creative confidence.
“‘Remedy’ was made after a long period of writer’s block and doubt,” Maliboux told Dancing Astronaut. “It was the first of a couple songs (wink wink) I wrote that sort of broke me through my writer’s block and gave me the hope I needed to continue creating music. Every artist I know, myself included, convinces themself every time they get writer’s block that somehow, they will never make a good song ever again. This was the song that turned it all around for me!”
