Rapper Son of Mars speaks on his upcoming releases, and future goals
Stephon Peters-Smith, known professionally as Son of Mars, rose to fame in 2021 in the rap industry. Son of Mars is a New York resident hailing from Trinidad & Tobago, which he immigrated from at 17 to pursue his ambitions. During his studying stint at the University of Rochester, he released his EP, aptly named S.O.M, where he first became enamoured with music.
Finding his own music flair, Mars’ style combines hip-hop and Caribbean soca. His songs, including Anakin, Mrs Chosen One, Fitted, and many others, have become huge successes. The popularity of these songs in 2022 prompted Mars to embark on the Pandora Box Vol. 1 national tour of North America. In his career, hip-hop artist Son of Mars has received several accolades. The release of his song Mrs Chosen One was produced by popular artist Singer Keshi. iHeart featured him as a National Touring Artist 2022. The musician also worked with Lil Wayne’s Personal Engineer, Steve Rock Star Dickey, and Lil Uzi Vert’s Engineer and Producer JakBrown.
With a new album in the pipeline, the tracklist is set to feature renowned players 808 Mafia, Keshi, TM88 and Grammy-winning producer Alex Chiger. Mars posted intriguing, Greek Mythology-inspired teasers on his social media sites along with a toll-free number that provides details and clues about the future project. He also showed the cover image, which features the words “Pandora’s Box Vol 1” carved into a peculiar treasure chest that generates a dazzling gold light.
On the horizon, Son Of Mars is prepared to give fans a window into his world through his next upcoming electronic-infused project ‘PBV1 Deluxe’. In the coming years, the rapper has some big goals to achieve. When asked what he would like to achieve in the next few years, Son of Mars said, “Hopefully harnessing my craft enough to get me on the world stage. I would love to perform for people all over the world and bring people together and unite them with music.”
