RÜFÜS DU SOL, Black Coffee, Olivia Rodrigo, Silk Sonic, and more win at 2022 Grammys

Following a three-month setback from rising COVID-19 cases, the 2022 Grammy Awards were hosted for the first time at MGM Grand arena in Las Vegas. With more than 75 Gramophones being awarded to writers, producers, and performers the Recording Academy’s annual ceremony highlights the top names in music each year. Jon Baptiste led the field with more than 11 Grammy nominations, and took home four awards. Olivia Rodrigo took home trophies after earning Best Solo Pop performance and Best New Artist. Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s effortlessly smooth Silk Sonic project brought home the hardware on “Leave the Door Open,” winning both Song of the Year and Record of the Year.

It was also a big evening for those nominates in the electronic and dance categories, as Mike Shinoda’s remix of the Deftones’ “Passenger” won Best Remixed Recording. RÜFÜS DU SOL‘s third nomination proved to be a charm, with “Alive” taking home the honors of Best Dance/Electronic Recording beating out “Hero” by David Guetta and Afrojack, and “The Business” by Tiësto. For Best Dance/Electronic Music Album, Black Coffee‘s Subconsciously edged Illenium‘s Fallen Embers and Marshmello‘s Shockwave, netting the South African selector his first Grammy win.
