Swedish House Mafia sell pre-reunion publishing catalog to Pophouse Entertainment

With the single-digit countdown nearing until Paradise Again sets the Swedish House Mafia Discord on fire on April 15, they’ve briefly paused their new music efforts and shared an unexpected update regarding all of their pre-reunion releases. Pophouse Entertainment—a Stockholm-based company that was actually co-founded by ABBA’s own Björn Ulvaeus, which also produced the new Avicii Experience—has announced that they’ve “fully acquired the master recordings and publishing (including their writer’s shares) of the trio’s back catalogue” and will form a joint venture alongside the three Swedes.

No financial specifics of the deal have been disclosed at the time of writing, but the purchase comprises of everything released under the Swedish House Mafia branding from 2010-2012, including “Greyhound,” “Save The World,” “Don’t You Worry Child” with John Martin, their greatest production of all in their dub mix of “Euphoria,” and all Axwell Λ Ingrosso releases. It’s worth noting that Calvin Harris sold his publishing catalog back in 2020 for upwards of $90 million and David Guetta took the same route in in 2021, selling his for an estimated $100 million. Swedish House Mafia shared a statement alongside the reveal of their music publishing move, stating,

“It feels great for us to partner up with a company like Pophouse that will do much more than simply acquire our creative work. Pophouse will invest funds, know-how and resources to bring our music into areas of entertainment where it hasn’t been before and for new audiences to discover our legacy.”
