Yung Bae flexes status as the king of ‘future funk’ on hand-crafted ORBIT playlist

Since hopping on the future funk wave, Yung Bae has never looked back, propelling the electronic subgenre out from the underground and into an outright phenomenon. He rose to fame with his 2014 album Bae, which sampled Japanese city pop, and is now sourcing features from the likes of Pink Sweat$, Channel Tres, and EARTHGANG on his latest album, Groove Confidential: Side A.

The Portland, Oregon-born DJ/producer demonstrates both his influence and taste-making prowess through his Orbit playlist curated exclusively for Dancing Astronaut. The selection includes favorites from Bonobo and Disclosure, as well as deeper cuts from Kendrick Lamar and Thundercat.

Bae recently announced his monumental “Groove Continental” show in September, featuring an array of electronics from Flamingosis, George Clanton, and more at Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall. Tickets can be found here.
