Moby launches ‘always centered at night’ imprint with new single, ‘medusa’

Veteran DJ and New York native Moby has cemented the first release on his nonconforming new music label, always centered at night. Featuring Grammy-nominated writer and producer Aynzli Jones, “medusa” arrives as Track No. 1 of four on the imprint’s legacy-commencing EP. Dispatched on June 1, medusa includes the original single, two supplemental mixes, and an a cappella version of the song.

“The goal for always centered at night is to do something uncompromising, to make music that is emotional, atmospheric, and potentially beautiful,” Moby elucidated in an official statement. Per the label’s bio,

“What we have to say to artists we work with is: ‘Look. We’re trying to make something unique, unconventional, and personal, and the music and lyrics don’t need to explain themselves. They can be obscure, they can be whatever you want them to be.'”

As the original “medusa” nears 250,000 streams on Spotify, the label’s artist profile already boasts north of 150,000 monthly listeners. See how “medusa” effectively mirrors always centered at night’s core mission statement by streaming the new single—and its companion pieces—below.
