Neiked, Ally Brooke talk ‘old-school love’ on Deorro’s latest ‘ORRO’ single, ‘La Cita’

“I’ll pick you up at eight, no need to complicate/ Is that old school love, old school love/ Flowers in my hand, I’m gonna take you back/ to that old school love, old school love,” sings Swedish Neiked over production from Los Angeles-born producer Deorro, aka Erick Orrosquieta. “La Cita,” featuring former Fifth Harmony member and Latin songstress, Ally Brooke, is a refreshing, high-tempo take on a burgeoning romance. The innocuously playful narrative, told from a women’s perspective, is sung entirely in Spanish, driven by emotive choruses from Neiked and a melodic Latin-meets-dance-infused soundscape crafted by Deorro.

“La Cita” is the final single to arrive ahead of Deorro’s sophomore album, ORRO, to release via Ultra Music/Sony Music on July 1. A play on his name, ORRO was largely inspired by the Mexican artist’s childhood, translated through imagery and motifs of lotería cards, piñatas, family gatherings, and tints of gold, or “oro,” all speckled throughout the LP’s artwork and accompanying music videos. Drawing influence from his Mexican upbringing and dance/electronic palate. Among the many international artists to be featured on the record are the globally esteemed Los Angeles Azules, Los Tucanes De Tijuana, Alex Rose, Gente De Zona, and Gigolo y La Exce.

Deorro also recently announced a partnership with the Mexican National Soccer Team that will pit him as its official DJ and brand ambassador. Following the release of ORRO in July, Deorro will embark on Tour De ORRO, a global initiative spanning more than 50 dates. Pre-sale tickets and a complete list of dates are available on his website.
