Swedish House Mafia reveal first three products in IKEA collection, OBEGRÄNSAD

Time is moving way too quickly because it’s already been nine months since our favorite Swedish trio announced their looming partnership with IKEA. Amid the Paradise Again rollout back in September of 2021, AxwellSebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello disclosed a non-musical collaboration with the Swedish furniture company, a collaboration in which the three created an affordable collection that was “designed to make it easier to get into a creative flow for producing, playing and listening to music at home.” And while any items from OBEGRÄNSAD—the collection’s official branding—won’t actually be available for purchase for another three months, Swedish House Mafia have now previewed three of the 20 total products that will be included.

Revealed as part of IKEA Festival during the ongoing 2022 Milan Design Week, OBEGRÄNSAD’s initial offerings come in the form of a desk, an armchair, and a record player, which the trio says “supports creating, playing, enjoying, and even just setting the mood.” The OBEGRÄNSAD desk aims to allow for producers to begin building a reasonably priced home studio and features a pair of speaker stands to allow for ear-level playback as well as a pull-out shelf underneath. The OBEGRÄNSAD armchair “represents the balance of form and function central to this collaboration” and features a minimalistic design with adjustable straps. And Swedish House Mafia’s collection couldn’t come without something directly related to music, with OBEGRÄNSAD including a specially designed record player that’s compatible with IKEA’s ENEBY speaker. While the possible album of the year remains playing in the background and the countdown until Ushuaïa continues, preview the first three OBEGRÄNSAD items below, which will be available on a yet-to-be announced date this September.
