Boombox Cartel enlists ALEKO, FrostTop, RemK, and more as part of ‘Cartel II’ remixes
Boombox Cartel has long been one of the trap’s prevailing icons and his Cartel II EP only continued to bolster his resume. Just past the five-year anniversary of his Cartel EP—which included festival staples like “Jefe” and “Dem Fraid”—Boombox Cartel has delivered a bevy of remixes from his Cartel sequel from some of the genre’s brightest up-and-comers, including ALEKO, helloworld, and trio of Dancing Astronaut’s Artists to Watch in 2022, Ace Aura, FrostTop and RemK.
For starters, three of the San Diego Waterboys put their respective twists on a trifecta of Cartel II EP tracks. ALEKO’s take on “Fatal Attraction” might be his biggest release to date and it’s one we’ve been waiting for since he played it out during Knock2‘s debut headline show in Los Angeles a month prior. Fresh off his debut performance at the Brooklyn Mirage with NGHTMRE, FrostTop was recruited to lend his production hand on “Máquina.” And last but not least, RemK flipped the heavy-hitting cut “Veneno” ahead of his set in Chicago with Corona Electric Beach. Both FrostTop and RemK now have their sights set on their debut performances at HARD Summer later this month where they’ll take the stage on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
On top of the aforementioned reworks, helloworld delivers his unique, future bass-influenced remix for “Shadow” and Ace Aura had an opportunity to add his own future riddim twist to that same track. Other remixers on Cartel II (Remixes) album include Mad Zach, Kumarion, and more. Listen to the remix package in it entirety below.
