Pauline Herr and TWERL are on their way to becoming a bonafide power couple in the dance music scene. The two are partners in life, and now they are formally partners in music too. Their three-track Distance EP spins a story of love within the new record. The bitbird-backed EP is aptly titled, as the two have been navigating a long-distance relationship for some time now. And yet, listeners would be foolish to judge this book simply by its cover. Despite the Distance title, geography is not what defines Pauline Herr and TWERL’s dynamic. Turn the rhetorical first page and embark on a sonic journey of love as told through “Wherever You Go,” “Addicted,” and “Stay With Me,” words that serve as the conceptual heartbeat of the relationship they detail within the record.

Pauline Herr landed herself a spot on Dancing Astronaut‘s Artists to Watch in 2022 list not only because of the impeccable quality of her production skills, but thanks to her versatility. Herr is known to lend her staple singing and songwriting to her tracks as well. The sonic triple threat of skills is a rarity in the music scene, and it’a a trait that has helped Herr continue to tell her story and push her sound forward in ways few others can. Distance is a prime example of that, adorned in all the Herr originality. For his part, the Perth-born TWERL has become a regular on budding NIGHTMODE label that backed his previous two releases in 2022 before joining San Holo‘s bitbird roster for this most recent outlet.
