Motez meets with Scrufizzer for compelling collaboration, ‘Get It Done’
If the name Motez sounds familiar, you’ve been paying attention. The Adelaide-based, Baghdad-born producer has steadily risen to prominence in recent years, scoring accolades at the South Australian Music Awards while fashioning official remixes for industry fixtures such as RÜFÜS DU SOL, Disclosure, and Flume. If the name Motez, however, isn’t familiar, then consider meeting your new favorite DJ/producer done.
His latest original production, “Get It Done,” is a powerful, self-affirming record that recruits Scrufizzer, whose vocals heighten the song’s inherent intensity. The Sweat It Out signing compellingly and accessibly merges elements of different sonic approaches, says Motez:
“I wanted to draw from industrial and dissonant sounds and tones found in EBM, dark disco, and techno, but adding Scrufizzer’s unique vocals and delivery to be a point of difference and to drive the message home. The theme of the track is right there in the name: ‘Get it Done’; it’s a statement of rebellion, defiance, and charging through no matter what, despite all of what goes on through life you’ll be here and you’ll always get it done.”
