Chris Avantgarde, Kevin de Vries link up for two-part Drumcode EP, ‘Mind Control’
What happens when melodic-techno meets Drumcode? Mind Control is born. Two of melodic-techno’s quickest-rising names have been without a doubt Chris Avantgarde and Kevin de Vries. The former made his presence known when he teamed up with Anyma to produce arguably the year’s most well-known melodic techno track in “Consciousness.” And the latter of the leading melodic-techno talents was behind another one of Afterlife’s most sought-after releases, “Dance With Me.” Out now via Drumcode, Avantgarde and de Vries come together for their first collaboration, delivering a two-sided EP titled Mind Control.
Both regulars on Afterlife, Mind Control almost comes as a bit of surprise for fans of the two melodic-techno heavyweights. Recently putting together a Halloween mix on Afterlife, Avantgarde had explored some of the darker, industrial sides under the techno umbrella. And both he and de Vries took some of that inspiration and mixing it with progressive melodies, forging one of the most unique sounding techno EPs of the year and making for a must-listen showing.
