Daniel Orpi intermingles tech house, jazz on mellifluous sixth EP of 2022, ‘Dance Partner’

Over the past year, Daniel Orpi has stood out from the pack of tech-house producers by putting out a total of 11 productions, seven of which were EPs: the So Hot EP, Gaia EP, La Fiesta EP, Nit Del Foc EP, Remember EP, Rush, a collaborative EP with Jean Pierre, and Dance Partner, his seventh and final extended play of the year. The continuousness with which Orpi put out new music this year only continued to raise his profile to listeners unfamiliar with his sound (which has translated to support from MK, Michael Bibi, James Hype, and Eats Everything, among other industry fixtures, as well as radio features on serials like Friday Fire with Danny Howard).

On Dance Partner, a shuffling triplet of singles with verve, fluidity, and texture, Orpi flaunts his capacity for crafting mellifluous grooves fit for the dance floor—or any setting, for that matter. A crisp collection of tech-house, soulful touches of jazz, and tribal percussion, Orpi’s Dance Partner is the refined note on which he closes out 2022.
