Stream SG Lewis’ breezy dance ballad, ‘Lifetime’

An unspoken “I love you” carries a certain weight that can be relieved only when those words have fallen from a confessing tongue onto receiving ears. “Lifetime,” the latest single from SG LewisAudioLust & HigherLove rollout, translates the buzzy bliss of uttering it for the first time in a breezy, nearly five-minute framework that, in a perfect world, would automatically play right there and then. Laced with strings and light touches of retro sound, “Lifetime” “channels inspiration from a lot of the music I grew up listening to,” says Lewis, who adds that it “could be my favorite record I’ve ever made.”

Lewis’ second studio album, AudioLust & HigherLove, lands January 27, 2023 via Astralwerks. The follow-up to his lauded debut LP, timesDancing Astronaut‘s 2021 Album of the Year—is a double-sided endeavor that can be distilled into two types of love. “AudioLust is the darker, lusty, infatuated, short-lived, and ego-driven version of love. The second half [HigherLove] represents a much deeper, actualized, and fulfilled version of love,” explains Lewis.

Though “Lifetime” lyrically falls into that second half, the narrative of its accompanying music video, directed by Jason Lester, arguably belongs to its counterpart. Lewis stars in the folly-ridden storyline of a visual that only furthers the charm of “Lifetime,” which just might be AudioLust & HigherLove‘s pièce de resistance.
