Honey & Badger regained his release footing back in October following a short-lived intermission on originals and he’s now padding that once more before the clock strikes 2023. Anyone that’s been in attendance during either a Tchami set, a Malaa set, or even one of the two Tchami back-to-back Malaa appearances during Labor Day Weekend would’ve come up empty when figuring out the ID played alongside the Pardon My French posse cut, “Made In France.” And the Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch in 2022 made it known that the ID in question belonged to him, with Tchami calling him back to Confession—after an “Eternity” update earlier in the year—for the delivery of “Careless.”

There’s an argument to be made that “Careless” supersedes “Rampage” as the single most high-profile original in Honey & Badger’s half-decade discography. And thankfully, “Careless” shares something in common with “Rampage” in terms of it landing before our annual ID tracker is created, with Honey & Badger adding one terminal piece of evidence as to why he was one of 25 names we believed were worth keeping an eye on this year. “Careless” grandly ties a bow around his year, moderately drifting from the somewhat toned-down mode of tech-house seeded throughout his 2022 run in favor of a blistering, kinetic profile that explains why the Belgian’s latest became a tracklist staple from the Frenchmen.
