Martin Garrix, JVKE soundtrack Marvel Snap’s new game with fitting anthem, ‘Hero’

When Martin Garrix came back to New York City in October—the first time since his debut at The Brooklyn Mirage a month prior—he had two things on his agenda. One of those was revealed to be a historic stream atop the Empire State Building and the other he quietly disclosed was a trip to Marvel’s headquarters in the Big Apple to work on something for a new video game they were producing. And we finally know what that exactly meant, with the STMPD RCRDS boss and JVKE—who was just remixed by ILLENIUM and Nurko—partnering up to soundtrack Marvel Snap’s new mobile and PC game with “Hero.”

It’s the first time since “Love Runs Out” that release day would come without the general public having even the slightest idea as to what Garrix’s newest release would sound like. To likely close out a legendary 2022 that included his debut album Sentio—as well as both “Loop” and “Something”—Garrix is now joining the likes of Kaskade and Alesso as names that have video game soundtrack producer on their resume in recent years. And “Hero” sees Garrix dig deeper into his future-bass arsenal—a sound he hadn’t directly toyed with under his own name since that pairing with Sasha Sloan and G-Eazy—with JVKE providing an empowering vocal that makes for a fittingly titled anthem for a superhero-based game, which has a co-production credit from Brooks. Stream “Hero” in full below.
