ShockOne, Koven issue ‘Collecting Thoughts’ on Monstercat
Hot off the heels of tag-teaming an eruptive warehouse tour across New Zealand and Australia, London’s ShockOne and Koven have unlocked their long-awaited collaborative outing, “Collecting Thoughts.” Now streaming via Mike Darlington‘s esteemed Monstercat imprint, the new joint effort seamlessly integrates both parties’ seasoned drum ‘n’ bass skillsets. Featuring tantalizing vocals from Koven’s Katie Boyle, “Collecting Thoughts” quickly develops into an adrenaline-pumping climax, marked by its abrasive, mono synth-led break. ShockOne articulated in a press statement,
“It’s so great to finally write a song with Koven. We’ve been peers and fans of each other for such a long time…I’m really happy with how this turned out. One of my biggest considerations going into this was, ‘What should ShockOne [and] Koven sound like?’ Not only that, but what would our collective fans expect? And I think we’ve done exactly that—huge soaring vocals, epic melodies, and larger than life production!”
“Collecting Thoughts” marks Koven’s direct follow-up to their September track, “I’m Delighted,” featuring Flux Pavilion and Cookie Monsta. Concurrently, the tune signifies ShockOne’s first public offering since his Lee Mvtthews-assisted one-off, “Thinkin About,” dispatched last May. “Collecting Thoughts” will appear on Koven’s forthcoming EP, Higher Ground (Part 2), scheduled for release in 2023.
