MORTEN applies future rave touch to ‘The Drill’ on piercing new rework
When MORTEN released “The Drill” via Destined Records in 2015, few could have imagined just how quickly its white-knuckle grip on the dance/electronic music space would be felt. The single became inescapable, surfacing in fellow DJs’ sets while attaining its status as a venerable festival weapon along the way.
Now, almost one decade after the birth of one of the the last decade’s most-beloved records, future rave pioneer MORTEN returns to “The Drill” for a rework that ably blend elements of big room, trance, techno, and even a smattering of acid for a bubbling warehouse-positioned production that proves a formidable accompaniment to the original. Clad with MORTEN’s rasping basslines and breaks, suited for main stages across the globe, this new rinse of “The Drill” is the prelude to an industrious 2023 touring schedule, which includes a headlining stop at London’s Ministry of Sound on February 24.
