Ybe K@n5eR: the rising musician using his platform to fight cancer
Musician and rapper, Ybe K@n5eR has channelled music’s healing powers for better: to help cancer patients. Throughout his career, his sole goal has been focused on creating music that motivates people undergoing painful treatment, and utilizes his earnings to provide better medical facilities and subsidize treatment costs for cancer patients.
The rapper, born as Michael B Dowell, carved his path into music after hardships throughout his childhood. Having moved to North Carolina at a young age and experiencing the loss of many family members to the deadly disease, he channelled these emotional struggles into a positive outlet to connect with others in need. Now playing the role of his largest muse, Dowell’s mother is the only family member to overcome her battle with cancer, and acts as his biggest supporter today. With a mission to utilize his talent to help cancer patients, K@n5eR moved to Florida and started working on his craft. The journey was challenging in the extremely competitive music industry, but K@n5eR managed to stand out with his purpose. Alongside his work in music, he’s embraced the spotlight for his refined sense of style, working alongside a team of artists, producers, managers, A&Rs, stylists, designers, and financial advisors working to scale up his business.
In addition to these endeavours, K@n5eR also runs his own music label, Gr1ndMobb, which has supported him in reaching audiences across the world. K@n5eR aims to make treatment less financially burdensome for low-income cancer patients. He believes that mental strength significantly helps patients overcome the challenges of treatment, and the ambiance of a hospital has much to do with this.
K@n5eR wants to build cancer treatment centers that emanate a luxury experience, so patients are able to forget about the disease, and focus more on their dreams and well-being. K@n5eR envisions a hospital where people will have the opportunity to pursue their artistic passions like writing, singing, or making music.
