Wekho explores the hurt of failed relationships on “Funny”

Wekho has been perfecting his production chops for quite some time now. A multi-instrumentalist, record producer, DJ, singer, and songwriter, his dedication to his craft is unrivalled, and the way he fuses a myriad of other approaches into his pop/electronic music hybrid is strikingly authentic. Dancehall, reggae, and, as a nod to his Congolese roots, African music help to make his sound distinctive. Perfect for getting the party started, he makes sure that the sound’s overall ethos celebrates community, a signal to the classic P.L.U.R. ethos.

His latest cut, “Funny,” embraces a tech house foundation, where he’s able showcase his songwriting passion amongst robust production capabilities. Given the vocal treatment by none other than himself, the piece rolls about as the conflict that emerges from losing a connection, of being left out cold alone, hurt—much of the work swirl about in this rather dazzling display. Already haven accrued 200,000 streams within a month of its release and garnering support from Belgian radio stations, “Funny” is set to be a standout hit.

Wekho’s time spent producing can also be seen on the track, with records created for Lost Frequencies, MATTN, and Paris Hilton. Stream “Funny” below.
