Chris Lake’s requested ‘Deceiver’ VIP headlines Black Book Records’ milestone 50th release

Miami Music Week is quickly approaching and that can only mean one thing: another edition of Black Book Records‘ ID compilation series. After delivering the third installment exactly a year ago and the fourth installment back in July 2022, the label’s fifth delivery also doubles as a milestone 50th release since its 2017 launch, featuring a trio of new singles and—unexpectedly—Chris Lake‘s highly requested VIP of “Deceiver,” which he had previously explained would stay as an exclusive to his sets. The Black Book boss’ edit of his 2018 collaboration with Green Velvet dates back to May 2021—his first shows since the pandemic began—and had been sought after by an avid house music community in the two years that followed.

But Black Book IDs: Chapter 5 shouldn’t be overshadowed by its leading track. Chris Lake has put on his curator cap and recruited some of his close friends to fill out the compilation’s three original production slots. Tony Romera starts the compilation off with a deep-bass cut titled “Pitch Thing,” followed by Guy Mac who adds his progressive touch to “Babba,” and last but not least Hank K, who rounds things out with the drum-driven cut, “Tooka Took.” With a Black Book Records showcase slated for March 24 in Miami, both Chris Lake and Hank K will take the decks ready to show off their brand new ammunition.
